Hipster Dogs-Effortlessly Cool

Dog Walking in Blockhouse Bay

Blockhouse Bay is one of those rare Auckland suburbs with a real village at its centre — corner shops, a sandy beach down the road, and streets rolling towards the Manukau Harbour. For dogs it’s lovely, but limited: the harbour-edge reserves and the beach are governed by Auckland Council on-lead rules, with seasonal restrictions in summer. So most local dogs spend their weeks on short street walks, watching the gulls go by. Our two-hour adventure excursions change the maths completely.

What dog walking in Blockhouse Bay looks like

We collect your dog from anywhere in Blockhouse Bay — the village side, the streets above the beach, or the borders with New Lynn and Green Bay — and they ride out with their neighbours from those very suburbs. A few minutes up the road is our privately owned 40 acres in Oratia: open fields to sprint, an orchard to explore, native bush to sniff and freshwater streams to swim in. Two full hours, door to door.

Every pack is small and matched by size, energy and temperament, so a sensible Blockhouse Bay dog gets real freedom under active supervision. On-lead and off-lead time is matched to each dog’s confidence and recall — even dogs still working on their recall join in safely, starting with on-lead exploring and carefully chosen pack mates.

And because your dog travels with the same faces every week, they build genuine friendships. You get photo updates from the adventure while you work, and your dog comes home washed, towel dried and properly tired — the good kind of tired that only two hours of fields and streams can produce.

What Blockhouse Bay dog owners ask us

Yes — from the village and the streets above the beach through to the boundaries with New Lynn and Green Bay. Send your exact street when you enquire and we’ll confirm your pickup spot and the days that suit you.
Local options are limited: the beach and most harbour-edge reserves are on-lead under Council rules. Our own 40 acres in Oratia are private, fenced and just for the pack — genuine off-lead running, bush sniffing and swimming, all safely allowed.
It starts with the free 30-minute meet & greet in your home. We meet your dog, talk through temperament, energy and any worries, and design the right adventure plan together. There is no commitment until you’re happy.
Not at all. Every dog’s time on and off the lead is matched to their confidence and recall. Our Oratia property is private and secure, so new dogs can build up gradually, starting with on-lead exploring and carefully matched pack mates.
No. Once we’ve agreed the arrangement at your meet & greet, we collect and return your dog whether you’re home or not. You’ll get photo updates from the adventure so you can see the fun.

Nearby areas we also cover

We also cover New Lynn, Green Bay, Lynfield — and you can see the full pickup area on our Areas We Cover page. Not sure if you’re on the route? Send us your street and we’ll confirm.
